The CARV team is hard at work on a number of details to ensure the first ever California Action Retailer + Venture Expo is valuable to attendees and exhibitors alike. Arguably the most important component we’re working on right now is establishing our CARV Advisory Board for the show.
The CARV Advisory Board is composed of industry experts who will attend the show and bring the voices of the surf industry to RedlineXpo to ensure their feedback is captured and used to shape CARV Expo.
“The single most important goal of CARV is to connect boardsport and outdoor adventure retailers, of all sizes and from all regions of the country, with brands that matter—brands that are innovating, that make quality products, and value this community, said Evan Shoda, CEO of RedlineXpo. “As brands continue to evolve, we’ll rely on our Advisory Board to keep us focused on the future, and ready to make changes that will make CARV the premier destination for the surf industry.”
“So much has changed in the last decade, from virtual solutions to collaborating and networking,” said Josh Rifkin, co-founder of CARV Expo. “Make no mistake though: authentic in-person gatherings are just as important as they have ever been. This Advisory Board will keep us honest and true to our mission of creating an event that prioritizes authenticity, face-to-face collaboration, and community growth.”
The Goal
The Advisory Board has one goal: to ensure that the event is a valuable and effective platform for -
showcasing new products,
connecting with industry professionals, and
gaining insights into the future of the surf industry.
An Advisory Board is not a new concept. In fact some of the first expo advisory boards were used by RedlineXpo senior partners Doug Miller and Tim von Gal as part of a series of successful expos they orchestrated in the 90s.
While the concept isn’t new, we believe that CARV is the perfect venue to bring this idea to the surf industry, and ensure that this new venture has its attendees best interests at heart; and so that we can make a CARV an experience to build on for many years to come.
“We use the Advisory Board to hear what you as buyers feel we need to know regarding what other products you need to see,” says Jhana Jordan, Director of Key Accounts for RedlineXpo. “It's also important for us to know what we can improve on overall. We find the information you contribute invaluable to providing a show that fulfills your needs.”
The Responsibilities
The CARV Advisory Board will be responsible for contributing to the following:
Strategic Guidance - Offering high-level advice on business strategies, market trends, and industry best practices.
Problem Solving - Assisting with specific challenges or issues the retail business may face.
Networking - Providing connections to other industry professionals, potential partners, or customers.
Innovation - Helping businesses stay ahead of trends and incorporate new technologies or practices.
Objective Perspective - Giving unbiased feedback and an outside perspective on the business’s performance and strategies.
Who’s On The Advisory Board
We’ll be sharing that information in the very near future! Rest assured, it will include a wide range of individuals with diverse backgrounds in retail management, marketing, finance, operations, and other relevant fields.
Josh adds, “There is so much energy and passion within this industry, which is exactly why it became a way of life for many of us. The inaugural Advisory Board shares our passion, and we’re excited to see how they can lend their deep industry knowledge to making this an unforgettable experience.”
